Set between the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, the Hillel Jewish University Center provides Jewish opportunities for students throughout Pittsburgh. With social, educational, political and social justice programming, the JUC provides students with a holistic college experience including a home away from home and extensive leadership training and opportunities. Delicious new kosher food at the "Kosher Korner" in the University Center is quickly making CMU a destination for Jewish undergraduate and graduate students. The meals are included in the meal plan and are available for lunch and dinner daily. The Hillel JUC provides daily minyan for Orthodox students. The Hillel JUC also provides weekly Shabbat services for Orthodox, Reform and Conservative students and dinner that serve on average 120 students. Monthly Jewish Sushi nights attract 50 students, while our "i for israel" campaign brings Israel to life on campus. Our social justice committee plans monthly fundraisers and donates time to the local kosher food pantry on a regular basis. The JUC is the focal point of Jewish campus life in Pittsburgh. Through our pluralistic approach, we endeavor to engage Jewish students of all backgrounds, forming a "community of communities" that offers a variety of options for expressing Jewish identity.
