The University of Florida (UF) and Sante Fe College house one of the largest Jewish student populatons in the country. The school has a Hillel and Chabad, which work collaboratively to provide students with their unique needs. Additionally, the community has both a Reform and Conservative synagogue. There are over 1000 student groups on the UF campus with many active Jewish groups, including the Student Government organization, Jewish Student Union with five Jewish umbrella organizations including Kesher and Koach, TAMID, Jewish Law student, and Jewish Business students to name a few. Additionally, there are five traditional Jewish fraternities and sororities for students to connect.
In regard to Israel, there are many ways for students to connect. Stand With Us, Masa, David Project, and Camera all engage interns on campus to inspire students to advocate for and connect with Israel. Furthermore, there are many opportunities to study abroad in Israel. Yet, what makes UF Hillel stand out is that it constatnly ranks as one of the top places for yearly participation of Birthright journeys. With an IACT coordinator UF Hillel, yearly 80% of Birthright participants are connecting with Jewish Life following their journey. This makes for a very enriching and meaningful Jewish campus experience.
