Guelph Hillel is the address for Jewish campus life at the University of Guelph. We strive to bring Jews together through social, cultural, religious and educational programs.Hillel events are open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation. We aim to provide an inclusive, warm, and welcoming environment and we welcome anyone interested in Judaism or Jewish traditions to participate. The University of Guelph's Hillel director, Rabbi Daniel Levitt, serves in a dual role as Hillel Director and the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus Educator.
Guelph Hillel is a partner with the The Heshe and Harriet Seif Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC). JLIC is a program that helps the religious Jewish student navigate the college environment, and balance their Jewish commitments with the rest of their many commitments while in University. JLIC provides avenues for spiritual development and exploration for Jewish students from varied backgrounds. JLIC presents a positive, sophisticated and welcoming face for religious Judaism on campus.
Rabbi Daniel and Naomi Levitt serve as Jewish educators on campus. They teach classes, provide spiritual guidance and help make Judaism more accessible in the university environment. In addition to the monthly Hillel Shabbat dinners at the Hillel house, the Levitts invite all Jewish students to their home for every Shabbat and holiday meal during the semester.
