Though our community is small, we have enjoyed a high turnout for most of our activities. In the past, we have sponsored a mangal for Israel's Independence Day; built a Sukkah; hosted lectures on topics from the impact of the Shoah on the Sephardim to the Jewish community of Cuba and hosted a seder for Tu B`Shevat. We have also been proud to bring a greater awareness of Israel to the campus through participation in panel discussions with various student groups, as well as hosting the Israeli Consul from Los Angeles. In the future, we hope to branch out info a full-week celebration of Israel that will involve the whole community. We currently have week-long programming for Holocaust Rememberance Week in the fall and Jewish Cultural Awareness Week in the Spring. We have also had Hillel members serve in the Israeli Defense Forces, as well as take trips through birthright israel and many have become actively involved in AIPAC.
