Center for Campus Free Speech |
Mission Statement:
Every day campus papers print editorials, guest speakers lecture, and student groups plan countless events. Many of these activities are funded with student fees and bring a campus to life outside the classroom. Activities which spark debate and promote civic involvement encourage students to be critical thinkers and active members of the campus community. In recent years, university and community leaders have been called on to protect the marketplace of ideas created by student fees. Strong leadership has been required in the courts and the legislature to defend this valuable resource from attack. By safeguarding the funding for student activities, we ensure that students will have diverse outlets for civic participation and that free speech will continue to be at the heart of higher education.
