Mission Statement:
In 1994, William Davidson of Detroit established a $ 15 million endowment at JTS to fund the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education, to bring the highest degree of professionalism, research and curricula to the field. The challenge for the Davidson School is to explore new and effective forms of transmitting Jewish content and experience in order to assist learners of all ages to develop shared and personal religious meaning in the twenty-first century. Through research, professional training and curriculum development, the school prepares Jewish educational leaders, thereby fostering the transformation of Jewish education in North America. The Davidson School, through the office of the dean and the department of Jewish Education, works closely with JTS's various educational institutes, including the Melton Research Center for Jewish Education, the Rebecca and Israel Ivry Prozdor High School of Jewish Studies and Camp Ramah. The Davidson School engages in collaborative teaching and research opportunities with Teachers College, Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary.
