“Going into my sophomore year at the University of Iowa, Hillel had hired a new executive director. I worked closely with him and brainstormed new, innovative ideas to keep undergraduates engaged within the Jewish community. We came up with creative ideas, but the number one inhibitor was funding. Asked by the director, I began reaching out to alumni to raise money for Hillel. Hearing stories from alumni about their time at Hillel and how it forever changed their lives inspired me to continue my career in the Jewish space. Now, working for the Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation, I look back with gratitude for the skills that Hillel helped me refine.” — Alec Deer, Assistant Director of Development at Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation, University of Iowa
