Hillel International, the largest Jewish campus organization in the world, announced today the 18 members of the 2020-2021 Hillel International Student Cabinet. The cabinet serves as the student advisory body for the Hillel movement, listening to fellow students, bringing them together and lifting up their voices within Hillel International’s leadership to help Hillels around the world engage Jewish college students everywhere.

A diverse cohort, the members selected represent the spectrum of Jewish backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations, hail from colleges and universities of varying sizes and are engaged in various areas of study. The members were selected through a highly competitive process, with five returning and 13 new members.

“The student cabinet is crucial to the work of Hillel International. Especially in this new era of connection and engagement, the cabinet serves as a major touchstone for helping us ensure we’re meeting the needs of students in this ever-changing higher education landscape,” said Hillel International Vice President for Operating Programs and Initiatives Sara Teichman. “These students represent great diversity from our movement, and a rich set of personal experiences that inform how they learn and live Jewish lives.”

This year, the members represent four countries – the United States, Canada, Brazil and Ukraine – and hail from 18 different schools. The cabinet will also serve as a vehicle to connect Jewish college students to their peers throughout the world, by leveraging the global Hillel network. Currently, Hillel operates on more than 550 college campuses and in 17 countries.

"We are honored and excited to continue expanding student representation at Hillel International,” said incoming co-chair CJ Wechsler, a member of the class of 2021 at the University of San Francisco.

Co-chair Zach Epstein of the University of Texas-Austin, also a member of the class of 2021, added, “We're really looking forward to uniting Jewish students across the movement, both virtually and in person, as well.”
