Explore Gettysburg Hillel

Gettysburg Hillel is a warm, welcoming community for Jewish students. We host Shabbat dinners, meaningful High Holiday services (led by a Rabbinical student who is a Gettysburg alum), a campus-wide Passover Seder and fun parties for Hanukkah and Purim. We send several students to Israel through Birthright each year, and we work with Judaic Studies to bring a Holocaust survivor to speak on campus annually. Gettysburg Hillel is perhaps most well known for our delicious Challah for Hunger program where students get together on Mondays to bake Challah and then sell the loaves to everyone around campus. The money raised support local and national charities. Many Jewish students at Gettysburg also enjoy living at the Hillel house, typically in their sophomore or junior year. It is an opportunity to live in one of Gettysburg's themed houses, and enjoy Jewish movies, food and simply living with other Jewish (and non-Jewish) friends. We're a growing community, and we look forward to meeting you on campus!

Religious Services

We have lively, student led Shabbat services twice a month. We offer both visual t'filah (from a screen) as well as prayer booklets. Our Shabbat services and dinner are typically held at our Hillel house or with one of our co-sponsoring organizations. After services, our community joins together in a Shabbat meal.

Frequency: Bi-monthly
