As NYU strives to be in and of New York City as well as in and of the world, approximately 25% of NYU's undergraduates hail from places outside of the United States. The Jewish community at NYU is diverse and vast. NYU Hillel offers a multi-denominational home away from home, with Shabbat and holiday celebrations at the center. Every Friday night, we offer vibrant student-led services including Reform, Traditional Egalitarian, and Orthodox, as well as warm Shabbat dinners full of ruach (spirit). We also offer celebratory services and meals for every Jewish holiday. In addition to religious services, we offer a wide array of student and staff-led events and programming, everything from crocheting to cooking to community service. NYU Jewish student clubs include denominational groups, a queer group, a Jewish acapella group, a Jewish culture group, various Israel groups, and more. We are here to meet students where they’re at, whether they’re looking for weekly services that feel like home or to enter a Jewish space for the first time. NYU also boasts the world-renowned Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, which houses majors and minors in Jewish Studies and Hebrew, graduate programs (including the MA-MPA dual degree in Jewish Studies and Nonprofit Management, in partnership with NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service), and the Taub Center for Israel Studies. Additionally, NYU has a study-away campus in Tel Aviv.
The NYU Kosher Eatery, lovingly referred to as the "K Caf" is conveniently located in Weinstein Residence Hall, close to Washington Square Park. In addition to being able to use their regular meal plan to access the K Caf, students can pick up pre-packaged kosher meals in all of NYU's dining halls. There are kosher food products readily available in all grocery stores and most convenience stores near campus, as well as kosher restaurants and butchers within walking distance. Kosher delivery via delivery apps is also available from local kosher restaurants.

NYU Hillel is a home away from home for Jewish students in downtown Manhattan. The NYU Hillel staff team, including rabbinic and educational staff, work with NYU’s various denominational student groups to lead daily services (Orthodox) as well as weekly Shabbat services and meals (Orthodox, Reform, and Conservative). We also offer a variety of services and meals for all Jewish holidays.

NYU Hillel is committed to our values of inclusion and accessibility both in physical and spiritual space. The building where we offer regular daily prayer and weekly Shabbat services are physically accessible for wheelchair-users, and religiously accessible for people of all backgrounds. We offer a range of programming that specifically honors the intersections of diverse Jewish identity, including an LGBTQ+ Jewish club, Jews of Color engagement, and a variety of events throughout the year on topics ranging from chronic illness to mental health to environmental justice. We offer various cohort learning opportunities around topics like wellness and chronic illness. In addition, we engage in service with a variety of local organizations serving people experiencing housing and food insecurity, formerly incarcerated people, and isolated older adults. We also host a variety of social-justice based internship and fellowship opportunities for students to get more involved in the community.

College students across the country are headed back to school. At the University of Central Florida (UCF) and at New York University (NYU), two sisters are kicking off the school year as brand new Hillel staff members. Melina Ramirez, Engagement Manager at UCF Hillel, and Sofie Ramirez, Springboard Innovation Fellow at NYU Hillel, are excited to welcome students back to campus and to continue their own Hillel journeys.
