Explore The College of New Jersey

The Hillel/Jewish Student Union at The College of New Jersey is an expanding organization and one of the most active on campus. A few events are scheduled each week, including weekly Friday night Shabbat services. The services are entirely student-led, either on campus, or celebrated at nearby universities and synagogues. Other religious activities include Havdalah services, a Sukkot dinner and service, lighting of the campus Menorah and prayers at TCNJ Holiday, and Passover Seders. Social activities include bagel brunches with discussions, bowling, pizza parties, apple-picking, movie/ice cream nights, and spaghetti dinners. We also go to see Broadway shows, bring in comedians or go to a comedy club, or even host a campus-wide Chanukah party. Community service programs include making Jewish crafts during holiday times, volunteering at a soup kitchen, and our annual campus-wide project of making sandwiches and assembling hygiene kits for the homeless and underprivileged. In addition, every March we hold JAM to commemorate Jewish Awareness Month. We have campus-wide events such as a cultural buffet or holocaust survivors speak at The College, among many other programs. All activities throughout the year are free-of-charge and there is no charge to join the Jewish Student Union. The Jewish Student Union is constantly expanding in size and presence on the campus at The College of New Jersey. With each year, programming is greatly increased in quantity and quality.
