Maryland Hillel Opens New Home for Jewish Student Life
Now, with the opening of the Ben and Esther Rosenbloom Hillel Center for Jewish Life, students have nearly 40,000 square feet to build community.

Maryland Hillel is one of the nation's premier Hillels engaging 4,000 Jewish students annually out of the approximately 6,000 Jewish students at the University of Maryland. This past academic year Maryland Hillel provided leadership training to 200 students, served over 10,000 funded Shabbat meals, took 320 students to Israel, ran four service-learning trips nationally and internationally, hosted hundreds of lectures and classes, and worked with individual students to foster their personal identities and activism. Kosher Dining
Maryland Hillel offers delicious Kosher food at the Rosenbloom Hillel Center. Students can purchase full or partial meal plans, or buy meals one at a time. Maryland Hillel also offers Kosher meals for orientations, Shabbat, and holidays.

Religious Services
For services, more than 350 students join weekly Conservative and Orthodox and semi-regular Reform services for Shabbat on Friday night. In addition, Maryland Hillel offers Conservative, Orthodox, and Reform holiday services. Maryland Hillel's team features Conservative and Orthodox rabbinic staff and educators.

The Gildenhorn-Winer Scholarship in Israel Studies
The Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies (GIIS) is grateful to Michael and Catherine Gildenhorn and Carol and Michael Winer for their generosity in creating an annual scholarship for an outstanding UMD student pursuing a minor in Israel studies.
