David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship

The Baumgardt Fellowship provides grants of up to $7,500 for Ph.D. candidates working on topics such as ethics, Wissenschaft des Judentums, or the modern intellectual history of German Jews. Applicants must be affiliated with an accredited institution of higher education and currently be enrolled in a Ph.D. program.

Ira Silverman and Paula Donovitz established this scholarship for Jewish students from small communities in Texas. This award is for Jewish students from small Jewish communities and towns, as defined as communities with two or fewer Jewish congregations.

Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award

*Not exclusively for high school seniors, open to ages 13-19. Students with exemplary records of leadership in community service are encouraged to apply for the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award. Up to 15 students age 13-19 are selected based on nomination by a member of the community. Recipients of the award may use their award money towards education, or further philanthropic efforts.

Dina Abramowicz Emerging Scholar Fellowship

The Dina Abramowicz Emerging Scholar Fellowship is for post-doctoral research on a topic in Eastern European Jewish Studies. The work should lead to a significant scholarly publication. The fellowship includes a $5,000 stipend for the holder to conduct research at the YIVO Library and Archives for two to three months.
